New Full Metal Alchemist series in the works

Some exciting information came out of Japan this past week in the announcement that a new Full Metal Alchemist series has been green-lit.  BONES is expected to once again take on the series, but so far there are no concrete details given (Kurau Director and BONES animator, Yasuhiro Irie, has been said to direct the series according to an earlier, unconfirmed leaked document).
Overall, I’m excited at the news that there is a new series coming out for Full Metal Alchemist.  I really enjoyed the first series, and even now keep up with the manga being released. But, without too much information about this project yet, I’m a little worried about how it’s going to end up.  Will it be a continuation to the first animated series and movie? If so, then I can’t really see how it’s going to fit all together since I feel that it ended nicely on its own.  Maybe BONES will go down the Hellsing Ultimate path, and redo the story with a more “follow the manga” approach.  Even so, that’s would be a lot of episodes that would be pretty similar to the original TV series with only a few changes here and there before the show goes down its own path.

I guess in the end, I’m going to stay with my enthusiasm.  Most of the projects BONES has worked on, I have ended up enjoying, so I have faith in their choices.  Just give us a series with the heart of Full Metal Alchemist, and I’m sure us fans will be happy.

Oh yeah, and don’t forget to throw in some Major General Olivia Armstrong for us
